My name is Manny and I’m a kids and families yoga teacher. I live in South East London (Greenwich) and have two children, aged 7 and 4. I have been practicing yoga since 2016 and plan to take my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training course in a few years’ time. My favourite style of yoga is Vinyasa Flow and Yin.
I practice yoga at home and in studios but I occasionally like to attend workshops and events in London to enhance my practice and learn new techniques from different teachers.
Why I became a Kids Yoga teacher
It all started when I was asked by my friend if I would like to lead the yoga session for her daughter’s themed birthday party. I was a little anxious but accepted the kind offer. I planned a mini flow which included sun salutations, kid-friendly yoga poses and some yoga poses that can be done with others.
On the day, the nerves disappeared once I started the session and it was wonderful to see the kids enjoying yoga and having lots of fun. I’ve always thought about teaching but never knew what I wanted to teach and it just felt like a natural calling for me. Since that day, I thought about teaching kids yoga and a few months later I jumped at the chance of completing a 3 day Kids Yoga teacher training course with Rainbow Kids Yoga. I learnt so much on the course and have not looked back since.
Family Yoga at home
I have been practicing yoga with my children for six months and counting and they’ve enjoyed it so much. My eldest loves our evening practice and has gotten a lot better at holding his poses. Sometimes he even starts to lead our mini flow which is fantastic to see. My youngest is very eager to learn and does her best in the poses. Sometimes she’ll create her own version which gives me ideas on how I can adapt poses for toddlers.
